Amanda Claire Vesty - Founder of Ancient and Sacred Trees
Writer, Teacher, Artist and Activist.
I founded Ancient and Sacred Trees volunteer run not for profit community celebrating, connecting, plant and protecting back in January 2014. It’s grown from a small group of tree nerds to a big community of people from all walks of life.
It’s been a labour of love for nearly 10 years now.
I show you how sacred nature connection inspires us to grow using storytelling, art, eco-therapy and more. I use my own personal experiences to help us tree & nature loving people reduce the stress, anxiety and depression caused by the demands of a modern human society out of synch with the wild world within and without. This comes from navigating life as an artist and teacher working with young people, adults, and communities such as prisoners and mental health groups, as well as being a late diagnosed autistic person and someone with hidden disabilities.
So this is an ongoing story about Trees, Teachings & Tall Tales, Enchantment & Escapology, Art & Eco-therapy, Plant Medicine and the Magic of the Everyday. This is Beauty as Activism.
As the founder of my volunteer run not-for-profit celebrating and funding planting and protecting trees in the Tropics and the UK, I’m passionate about how enabling people to feel good means they can do good.
This way we can all become the blessing the world needs so badly.
Besides a love for trees and the natural world, I also love my little dog Bella and my grown up trans kiddo. I run retreats at Wild Spirit Woods, our on the ground spiritual home, where you can come and connect with trees and nature in the heart of the British Isles.
Sometimes I write from home, sometimes from Wild Spirit Woods the on-the-ground spiritual home of Ancient and Sacred Trees, and quite often from inside Bertie Bingo my micro camper van, who I go on tour with my little dog Bella for company. I love painting too. I’m also an Archaeology Masters student with a multi disciplinary approach looking at history, anthropology, sociology, mythology, and well, you get the picture.

PS: Why Substack?
I have a website for Ancient and Sacred Trees www.ancientandsacredtrees.org as well as Ancient and Sacred Trees Facebook groups. I feel Substack can offer a lot extra for my community in terms of facilities. These include in depth articles, richer deeper content, an easily searchable archive, no distractions or negative noise from social media, notes, real time direct messaging, dialogues and personal conversations. I can provide news and items of interest straight to you as community members. It is a direct personal community experience that brings us all together root and branch. So, for me, this is an experiment in furthering my community building and resilience, with a big message at its’ heart. I really hope you will join me. :-).
